Show BOW OF COUNTY commissioners is BUSY BODY tax levies for 1929 decided upon and much bus business i ness transacted the affairs of sevier county have developed lately to such a magnitude that the county commissioners who assembled for their regular meeting I 1 monday were kept busy for three days day to discuss and decide on the business of the county the meeting monday was devoted to the regular routine business tuesday the commissioners were traveling all over the county to make investigations regarding those matters that had been taken under advisement and wednesday the tax levies were considered for the current year most of the problems brought up in the monday meeting had to be taken under advisement A delaga ion of salina citizens appeared before the board in the matter of the rights of way on the old road between aurora and salina A delegation from joseph discussed with the commissioners financial assistance for the joseph telephone line which had been torn down durin during the construction work on the road beor george e wilkinson of the rendezvous resort asked the board for permission to continue dances at the rendezvous on saturday evenings to 1245 monroe citizens asked for improvements on the road from the sugar factory to monroe P C of salina requested that a bridge in the loss creek district which had been washed away by the recent flood be replaced A delegation from cove wanted the county commissioners to remove the cove water mains from from the grade of the state highway all these matters were taken under advisement vise vi ment by the board other 0 ther items of business on nand land were tax adjustments and routine matters county attorney T A hunt suggested to the commissioners the passing of an ordinance which would compel horse drawn vehicles to carry tail lights in order to avoid such accidents as happened this week at central county clerk E elroy thurston was instructed to collect the license fees from county stores and dance halls balls the state board of equalization had instructed the county commissioners to make a blanket raise of ten per cent on oil the assessment of all range cattle and cattle otherwise assessed the county commissioners had protested against this raise and the state board cancelled the raise for cattle otherwise n assessed that for range cattle however to stand the commissioners will go to salt lake city monday august 12 to confer with the state diate blaid and if possible to bring about the concella tion of this raise the surfacing of the new road from elsinore south was discus discussed zed at some length and as soon as the rights of way can be adjusted the state road commission will proceed with graveling the road determining the taz tax levy for the current year took up the entire afternoon and evening of wednesday and the following levies were decided upon for the sake of comparison we give in parenthesis the figures for 1928 vencial fund poor fund and dependent mothers 4 45 county load fund 15 15 state load fund 1 1 road bond interest inte int iest elest fund 15 15 county fair 1 2 total county taxes district school lew levy 12 state general fund 24 24 state district school 47 47 state high school 2 2 total state taxes 73 73 richfield city tax 22 mills 20 monroe cita salina city 18 elsinore town 14 annabella town 10 joseph town 20 koosharem Koo sharem town 15 glenwood town 5 redmond town 9 aurora town 65 the taxes for richfield for the present year will be mills as against mills last year a raise of 27 mills |
