| Show principals OF HIGH SCHOOLS I 1 CON HEHE consider with superintendent plans for opening the high schools 7 the three high laigh school principals of sexier sevier district met with the superintendent erin friday to consider plans fa opening the high schools this fall it was decided to issue a brief circular containing information informal iii for pupils and the daily program for the school these will be distributed al about pout two weeks before the opening of school so that pupils may have time to select courses before registration day it was the unanimous de decision casion of the principals that thai all pupils in high school should be required to take english each year of attendance this decision was based upon the fact that in tests conducted last year by the superintendent and tests given by the state department pupils revealed a rather meagre knowledge of many of the essentials of correct language another matter decided upon which will be a change from previous years is the distribution of term report cards this year a new slip sl ip x will vill be given each term and I 1 mailed direct to the parents the slips will not need to be returned action was taken to discourage 4 taking large groups of pupils such as those in school operas and plays to other communities for performances ances the principals agreed that aies hese activities should be confined to the particular part of the district served by each high school the teachers institute to be held august was discussed and several topics were agreed upon for discussion there state superintendent jensen and state high school inspector williamson will be inai invited ted to attend it was decided that the three high sch cli bohs adopt a uniform text book in all english classes and that term tests under the direction of the superintendent and principal bergiven be given each class on the work of the term this action was taken as an effort t to secure highler higher standards of at tain ment in english principal of north sevier high school atis requested to recommend a suitable iuds grammar text for high school use and suitable language workbooks ifor for use from the seventh grade to 1 the twelfth grade inclusive 1 all kh teachers for the district have inow i now been assigned and notified of j the opening of school indications t point to a substantial enrollment 1 this year |
