Show Farmington Council Approves $34,900 For Device To Detect Earth Movement By KATHRYN JENNINGS Farmington city council met Dec. 14 with Grant Ungerman serving as mayor protem, in the absence of Mayor Merrill Petty. THERE WAS a request for preliminary approval for the Fowler subdivision street vacation request, by Jay Nielsen. The subdivision is located lo-cated at 300 East and 200 North where approximately eight homes will be built. The council approved this preliminary request. ROBERT Kistner, University Univer-sity of Utah representative, requested re-quested the contract payment for the Rudd Creek warning device system. The council approved payment pay-ment of $34,900 for installing and maintenance of this warning warn-ing system which will be moni- tored by the University of Utah and the Davis County Sheriffs office. THIS DEVICE should be ready for service in late January Janu-ary of 1984, according to Mr. Kistner. Dr. Johns and John Zippro represented the community emergency plans for Davis County. Each community will make their own plans which will then be coordinated with county and state plans for any disaster. THE VARIOUS stages of the plans, the education of the population and informing all citizens will be worked out by Davis County and the state of Utah. Max Forbush, city manager explained the Rudd Creek flood drainage easements, which are necessary to take care of the drainage problems caused by the floods. THE COUNCIL approved condemnation of land for a 30 inch overflow line which will be underground, through the Earl Hess property at 500 North Main Street west, and through the Bamberger Trust property, necessary for this drainage easement. This drainage drain-age pipe will be built west from the debris basin. The construction of the Rudd Creek debris basin is progressing as weather permits. per-mits. THE NORTH Farmington Park right of way agreements were explained by Mr. Forbush. For-bush. There have been agreements agree-ments worked out with Roy Love and Dr. Guymon for this right of way. The council agreed to the police officers in Farmington using their police vehicles for family, within the city limits. In case of an emergency for that vehicle, anyone in the car will immediately leave the car, so the officer can take care of the emergency. TWO MEMBERS of the planning commission, Richard Shipley and Vince Hess will terminate their terms of office in January, 1984. : The present council agreed to make appointments for these openings after Jan. when the new councilmen have taken office.
