| Show ELSINORE SCHOOL armistice day program an assembly was held november 12 it was in honor of armistice day the program was as follows opening prayer by maurine anderson i song by congregation reading america for me iva christensen piano selection marjorie smith poem madge braithwaite talk by harold anderson andersen on purpose of the world war jokes clifford hansen talk heroes of the world war thad hansen the play room exercise Eer cise and liveliness is important to growing children between the first and second grades these is a room mainly used for a play room they also take arithmetic and reading in in this room but it seems more like a play room to all when they change rooms the moment they get into the play room as it is called they become so lively and full of fun that it is hard to quiet them down long enough to get their minds on work dvork again this exercise does each pupil a lot of good attendance every day in our school we are talk ing about the money we lose when pupils stay away from school many pupils are staying out for unnecessary reasons they are bringing our attendance chart down and preventing the students student who are present from going on with the school work we all know ignorance is the enemy of society so why by dont ev everyone enone try to have a good atten attendance dalice record it is the only way to get knowledge because attendance develops ch character 1 the great holiday the great holiday of this moni month will soon be here it is a holiday that comes every autumn when everyone is harvesting their crops the pilgrims were the first to celebrate this holiday they named it thanksgiving this day has lived on since the pilgrims and we still celebrate it the same this year at the elsinore EI school we have sand tables and pictures illustrating autumn and the coming holiday it is very interesting to visit the lower grades and see their ideas on thanksgiving the first second and third grades have made sand tables and placed upon them a scene of autumn when the leaves are fluttering down they have made cabins and little men for the busy pilgrims preparing their autumn or harvest hanest feast if you visit the school be sure to see this for it really gives you a spirit of thanksgiving |
