Show LOCAL CITY COU ll 11 CIL 16 judge ff N N hayes haye espre expresses 1 fine ine sentiments on completion of natatorium in last weeks meeting of the city council the following letter from judge H N hayes was received and read to the councilmen los angeles july 10 1923 honorable mayor and city counell council of richfield city richfield utah gentleman at this belated hour permit me as an absent citizen of richfield to conara congratulate eulate tulate you upon and to express my appreciation of your completion of the Richtie richfield ld sliming pool 1 I would use the word natatorium if I 1 knew what it meant knowing something of the financial difficulties of our city it is apparent to me that it took a lot of courage c as well as financial sagacity to accomplish this laudable achievement the citizens ci of richfield in general and the boys and girls in particular ti have long felt the need of a public bathing resort where they could enjoy the social sport and experience peri ence the benefits that come from public sliming in pure invigorating water this improvement will do much toward making the young people appreciate their home city and be proud of it I 1 am quite convinced that you did not exer exert t your yourselves selNes as individuals or as the council in establishing abi this much needed place of recreation and benefaction out of the selfish thought of the compliments that would be showered upon you through your so doing because some criticism always accompanies generous approval over such things thing but you did it out of a sense of plain duty as the sworn guardians of our city and citizenry again I 1 congratulate you in all sincerity and trust that what you have done in the matter referred to will bo be the source of much tion and pride to you von long after the princely salaries 3 you on are drawing shall have been spent and forgotten very truly yours henry N hayes |
