coronation day dictionary contests reading contests and finally a pitched battle between common errors and good english will close the weeks activities good english week is a national movement and observed throughout tile the country du during ring the first week in november miss jean cox of 0 the state department on oi public instruction visited the three high schools in the district last week and inspected the home economics departments miss cox commended the teachers in these subjects very highly and incidentally left some valuable suggestions dr sears of 0 the university of utah who spent a week in it sevier lecturing in the various communities on oil social hygiene advises superintendent ashman in a recent letter that he thoroughly enjoyed ills his week neek in sevier and will ill welcome an opportunity to return from froal reports made madd by school truck drivers the various high schools 0 of the district are receiving generous support from towns near by the figures for Chrls temen mr myers miss wooley and miss jones were chosen as judges and the trial late date was set monday october 31 tryouts started at 3 3 3 and continued until 7 in many cases the judges could hardly decide which way to cast their vote in the case of vendela brandt and rosena johnson contesting for the part of 0 aunt mary they had to ask for another trial the cast was made up as fo follows old method kills school spirit 0 since we cannot have a gymnasium this year we are going to have a pretty fair substitute the salina opera house is being remodeled for our benefit under the supervision of mr moody the physical education boys have torn out the old partition they have almost completed three dressing rooms and a shower A steam heating plant will wil I 1 replace those old smoky stoves which scorched a person one moment and froze him the next the steam heaters will heat the stage too so it wont feel like klondike descending when the curtain is raised window vill acors and other things will be remodeled too mr christensen will add the f finishing ini shing touch by repainting tile the entire place we are pleased to see that something Is being lone done for vs us in tile the line of 0 a gymnasium the first meeting of the parent and teachers organization tor for this year wa was held friday xo november vember 5 in the high school building mrs avilda anderson ex president of the organization presided cd the first feature on the program was darkness the lights went out but were fixed immedi immediately abely after the community singing new officers were nominated and elected they ire are as follows mrs D G burgess president vice president C ray hay evans secretary and tr treasurer mr myers preceding the election miss wooley and mr christensen Christens cn offered their assistance to the mothers and fathers of the community A get acquainted party followed this business meeting parents and teachers alike talked laughed and cut up until one
