Show THE LESSON OF ARMISTICE DAY november 11 marks the passing of three strange and agitated years what a sentiment of happiness it was that came over the war torn world that joyous morning back in 1918 one can almost hear the bells belle ringing now and feel the thrill with which the crowds organized impromptu parades and eccentric jollifications it seemed as if the world had solved all its problems with threat of autocratic power removed it appeared as it if any other little questions Tema remaining ining unsettled could easily be handled it did not take long to discover that the old problems remained only aggravated by burdens created by a terrific war under the stress of this heritage of war people and nations began to act in a most selfish manner grabbing for themselves and failing to consider the interest of others viewing what they regard as a great decline of idealism many people have become dis heartened there is no reason for any lack of faith people proved themselves capable of great sacrifices tor for a common cause during the war these elements remain in their nature and will manifest themselves again meanwhile let armistice day remind everyone of americas great achievement by sacrifice energy determination courage results were accomplished which no one could have dreamed of as possible an unmilitary people showed themselves more than a match for the most warlike nation on earth the force and spirit that accomplished this grand result will be able to meet the difficulties of the coming years as they may arise such troubles as are now in sight are really small compared with those that were surmounted I 1 I 1 1 |
