Show Teacher Pay Ordered Cut New Contracts Provide 15 Per Cent Slash, Longer School Term Superintendent A. E. Jones announced an-nounced Friday that contracts were mailed Thursday to teachers and principals of North Sanpete school district, to be returned on or before May 1. The teachers were given a IS per cent reduction in salary and the school term was extended from 34 weeks to 36 weeks. That means the teachers wiU receive 15 per cent less salary for the school year and will also teach two weeks longer. The added time and the salary reduction approximates ap-proximates a 20 per cent cut in salary to the teachers. Although contracts to janitors have not yet been mailed, it was decided that they will receive a similar reduction in salary. Superintendent Jones and John S. Blain, clerk of the board of education, have volunteered to accept similar reductions in their salaries. The budget for the school district dis-trict will be adopted at the June meeting of the board. |
