Show I SPRING CITY I I By Special Correspondence j The home of Horace Larsen of Spring City was burned to the ground early Wednesday morrur.g. Mr. Larsen made a fire about 4 a. m. and went back to bed. He was awakened 40 minutes later by his small son coughing and the entire roof was ablaze. The family got out just before the upper part of the house feU in. With the help of neighbors they saved a bed, two chairs, dresser, electric washer and radio. The barn and grainary were also saved. Mr. and Mrs. Larsen and the five children escaped injury. in-jury. The home was insured. The family has now moved into the home of Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Osborne. Os-borne. Mr. and Mrs. Orson Downard ol Salt Lake City visited relatives here over the week end. A farewell party in honor of Bruce Ellis, son of Bishop and Mrs James F. Ellis, who has been called to go on a mission to Switzerland and Germany, was held in the Victory hall Wednesday evening A good program was given, refreshments refresh-ments were served and dancing was enjoyed, , Miss Alberta Puzey returned home Friday from Salina where she has visited the past three weeks with her sister, Mrs Ed Petersen. Mrs. Cloyd Blain gave a party for her daughter, lone, Sunday evening, the occasion being her fift-PPnt-.V, KiffK,1rt. 1 wii ttiuiiversajy. re freshments were served and games were played. Mr. and Mrs. J. w. Greenhalgh of Nephi spent the week end at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Albeit Puzey. Mr. and Mrs. Reed Beck of Draper visited during the week with Mrs. Simon T. Beck. Clarence Mickelsen and family were Ephraim visitors Sunday. The Primary gave a dance in the Victory hall Monday evening. Jerry Jer-ry Jones had the lucky ticket and was given a turkey. Mrs. Gregson Schofield entertained enter-tained at a party Saturday afternoon after-noon in honor of her daughter, Darline's eighth birthday. Miss Alberta Puzey celebrated her nineteenth birthday anniversary anniver-sary Sunday evening at her home. A late supper was served and games were enjoyed. The guests included Mr. and Mrs. Ivo Chris-tensen, Chris-tensen, Ralph and Clark Christen-sen Christen-sen of Chester, the Misses Rita Jo-hansen Jo-hansen and Gladys Outly of Fountain Foun-tain Green, David and Virgel Ros-tron Ros-tron and Theodore Anderson of Moroni, Mr. and Mrs. Kent Andersen, Ander-sen, Miss Melba Frandsen and Miss Evah Mortensen of Spring City. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Jensen and daughter, "Warda, accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Orson P. Hansen here from Salt Lake City last week where they had been visiting relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Jensen were enroute to Nevada. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Deakin and daughter, Anita Marie, of Ephraim Eph-raim visited friends here Monday. Mr. Hardy Hansen and famiiy have returned home after spending the summer at Woodruff where Mr. Larsen has been working for the Livestock Company. Mr. and Mrs. James H. Pedersen are Salt Lake visitors this week. Mrs. Eva Ericksen gave a party on Armistice Day for the lady teachers. A program, dancing and refreshments were enjoyed. The Parent-Teacher association held a meeting Friday in the high school building. Prayer was offered by John Petersen; singing by 5th grade chorus under direction of Mr. Terry; vocal duet, Odd Jonasen and Lewis Allred accompanied by Larsen, president of the board ol education, and Superintendent A. E. Jones on the financial situation of the school district. Mrs. Leona Strate was elected president; Mrs. Bergetta Jensen, vice president; Miss Helen Van Cott, secretary. James W. Blain extended the association's appreciation appreci-ation for the work of the retiring officers. Mayor W. L. Allred offered the closing prayer. |
