Show Beekeepers Plan For Honey Week To better bring to the attention .,-f the people of Utah the fine quality of honey raised in this state and surrounding commonwealths, common-wealths, the Mountain Stales Honey Hon-ey Producers' association, a cooperative cooper-ative of western beekeepers, is spjn-sorinc spjn-sorinc honey week beginning'. August Aug-ust 30th, it was announced Thurs-da Thurs-da by A. W. Anderson, manager. During this period the Utah honey hon-ey industry will be emphasized in every section of the state by merchants, merch-ants, manufacturers, chambers ci commerce and other organizations. A committee of producers and jobbers are now working out an effective display and demons'.! ation program. The honey industry during the past few years has grown into one of the largest agricultural pursuits in the state. Last season the producers' pro-ducers' association handled 265 cars ci honey, sending it to all sections of the country and to a number of foreign countries. During the present pres-ent year, however, tariff barriers lfave been raised in Germany and other countries practically shutting off tht export trade of the association. associa-tion. The vast, importance of this can be seen when it is realized the per capita use of honey in the United States is two pounds as compared com-pared with six pounds per capita in Geremany. The English markets mar-kets has been taken by the honey producers' association of Australia, an organization similar to the local lo-cal unit "Western honey," said Mr. Anderson, An-derson, "has been found to be in a class by itself, because of its fine flavor. Nowhere else in the United Uni-ted States or in foreign countries can they produce the pure white honey found in Utah and Idaho. In most other sections it is too strongly flavored to make the snow wh te honey found here." |
