Show The Business Outlook Ever since the stock market crash last fall many conflicting opinions have been expressed concerning con-cerning the business outlook for 1930. There is no denying th? fact that there has been a slowing down in certain lines, but the views of leading industrialists and business busi-ness men appear quite optimistic, with the advent of spring. There is no doubt that the concerted con-certed effort of these leaders to maintain high levels of production and distribution is having a wholesome whole-some effect. Besides, large expenditures ex-penditures for permanent improvements improve-ments by Federal, state and local authorities are getting under way. while billions are involved in expansion ex-pansion proerams of railroads, utilities util-ities and other basic industries. An especially favorable trend is seen in the direction of home building build-ing and home improvement, concerning con-cerning which a significant statement state-ment was made last week after a nation-wide survey by Altorfer Bros., makers of Spinner washers, who said: "Home construction is up 425 per cent since 1920, and wired homes have doubled in the intervening inter-vening 10 years. Various leading electrical home equipment distributors distri-butors throughout the United States reveal comprehensive plans to build new business during the year. There need be no apprehension: indeed, there can be only optimism regarding 1930." Encouraging reports have been forthcoming from many other sources, so it appears that the temporary depression may soon be ended. Incidentally, the passage of the pending tariff bill should have a salutary effect upon the business situation, through relieving re-lieving the feeling of uncertainty which now exists in several important im-portant Industries. |
