Show j FOUNTAIN GREEN j By Special Correspondence 1 In connection with the Fountain Green Lions club, President Ray Holman, C. S. Augason and N. C. Nielson made a trip Saturday to each city in Sanpete County, last Saturday for the purpose . of investigating in-vestigating the matter of organizing a Lions club band to attend the District Convention at Pocatello. Idaho, in May and the International Internation-al Convention at Denver to be held in July. They visited Moroni, Ephraim, Manti, Gunnison, Spring City, Mount Pleasant and Fairview, and felt that their trip was very successful for all expressed their willingness to join the band and help bear the expense. Success to the Lions Club band of Sanpete County. Again a Fountain Green student is chosen valedictorian of the Moroni Mor-oni High School. The honor has been given to Mrs. Kieth Allred who was formerly Miss Magdalene Coombs. This is the third year in succession that a Fountain Green student has won this honor. Two years ago Miss Evanelle Anderson was chosen and last year Miss De-neice De-neice Guymon was selected. This is a great honor for Fountain Green Last. Wednesday fire 'broke out in the chicken coops and yard of Carl Anderson's, which with 1,000 baby chicks, was totally destroyed Nearly every man and boy in town rushed to the home and gave every possible assistance, but due to the low supply of water, at the time, and on account of the leak that was being repaired, it was impossible to control the fire. The loss is estimated at $750.00 with no insurance. insur-ance. Mrs. Mary A. Mikkelsen announces announc-es the marriage of her daughter Norma to Ace Blackham of Moroni. They were married April 2nd in the Manti Temple. They have the good wishes of everyone for their future happiness and success in their new venture. Mr. A. A. Borgeson, music instructor in-structor in our school this year, has decided to conduct a six weeks summer music school immediately following the close of regular school work. His aim is to give musical instruction on all instruments to the maximum number of students at the minimum price. The work consists of daily study five days a week for six weeks. The Fountain Green Pep Band will present a program and dance, Friday, April 18th at 8 p. m., under the direction of A. A. Borgeson.. They will be assisted by Mr. Gus-Taff Gus-Taff Buggert, baritone land cellist, and Mr. Elmer Nelson, piccolo, flutist flut-ist and pianist, both instructors in the music department of the B. Y. U Both of these musicians are artists of very high rank and will give very entertaining inumbers on their respective instruments. The affair promises to be a real treat of the season. Admission will be regular reg-ular for both events and the public will be assured full value. The band has a membership of twenty-five players and the instrumentation instru-mentation is well balanced. |
