Show Perfecting- the Art of Living If there is any quality which is conspicuously con-spicuously American, it is the ability tj increase the comforts of living. The importance of our industrial age is that creating more prosperity efficiency effic-iency and leisure, puts us on a higher plane of life. This Golden Age of ours is just beginning. As yet, comparatively sDeaking. we have but skimmed the surface of its possibilities. In less than a century we have made our magnifi-cient magnifi-cient beginning; there is no forecasting forecast-ing the end. , Our great advantage over European countries is that our youth is such a short way behind us. We have no inelastic in-elastic attitudes of mind, no institu-t-nns made unorogressive and unchang ing by centuries Our ways are not dectated bv ancestors dead for uncounted uncoun-ted generations We faced the gigantic duty of developing deve-loping America, with ability and ingenuity in-genuity representing the best the ancient an-cient world had to offer And with these, we had a youthful people's qualities qual-ities of open-mindedness, adventurous-ness. adventurous-ness. and an ambition to set up new institutions and trends of thought, better than any that had been before that we might have a happier ful'.er l:f". Not onlv our own people, but most of the world has becn influenced by this development. Ve have done great thines. We will do far greater things on a multitude of still dim tomorrow |
