Show The New Postal Rates Are Announced An-nounced Today Postmaster H. C. Jacobs gives out the following information. L'M'ective at once changes in the postage rates will be as follows; All mail of the first class upon which one full rate of postage has been prepaid pre-paid shall be forwarded to its destination, destina-tion, charged with the unpaid rate, to be collected on dilivery. If the postage is short paid one rate, the additional charge shall be 2 cents, or the deficient de-ficient postage'. If it is short more tnan one rate, the deficient postage, and an additional charge of 1 cent for each ounce or fraction thereof shall be collected. Postage of 1 cent shall be the rate, on private post cards when no larger and approximately of the same weight and thickness as the postal card now in the United States. Transient rate on second class which includes newspapers etc. in 1 cent for each 2 ounces or fraction thereof regardless re-gardless of distance. . The chanq-es on parcel post matter will be as follows: The so-called 2 cent service on fourth class or parcel post matter to the rate on the first pound in the first three zones and 1 cent to the rate for the inital pound in the other zones, the new rates being as follows: , Local zone, 7 cents for the fi-sr, lb. 1 cent for each additional 2 pounds Zones 1 and 2, 7 cents for the first pound, 1 cent for each additional lb. Zone 3, 8 cents for first pound. 2 cents for each additional pound. Zone 4, 8 cents for first pound, 4 cents for each additional pound. Zone 5, 9 cents for first pound, 6 cents for each additional pound. Zone 6, 10 cents for first pound, 8 cents for each additional pound. Zone 7, 12 cents for first pound. 10 cents for each additional pound. Mail matter shall be registered on the application of the party posting the same, and the fees chargeable there for in addition to the regular postage, shall be, in all cases, prepaid ss follows: For registry indemnity not exceeding $50 and not exceeding $100, 20 cents. For regristry indenmity exceeding $100 and not exceeding $200. 30 cents. . For regristry indemnity exceedinr; $200 and not exceeding $300, 40 cents. TiVr registry indemnity exceeding $400 and not exceeding $500, 60 cents. For registry indeminty exceeding $500 and not exceeding $600, 80 cents. For registry indemnity exceeding .$700 and "not. exceeding $800, 90 cents. For regristry indemnity exceeding $1,000, $1.00 Mail matter without intrinsic in-trinsic value for which no indemnity is provided may be registered at the mininum fee of 15 cents. |
