Show "Cooperation And Progress" Evidence of the fine spriit of cooperation cooper-ation that is developing in Western industry is seen in the movement for expansion of the mine experimental stations in the .Western states. It promises to be a definite accomplishment accom-plishment in the present instance. Leaders of the mining industry in Utah have learned in the last few years what cooperation can do for them, and they are now solidly back of a movement move-ment that is designed to extend that spirit and its benefits throughout the Western states. -s The program, in brief, contemplates expansion of the activities of the various var-ious experimental stations of the United States Bureau of Mines in the Western states, and the establishment ' of a large central station at Salt Lake City to serve all the Western territory in connection with general and fundamental fund-amental mineral problems of th'.' region. The benefits to be derived will by no means restricted to Salt Lake City and Utah, although the great advantage of havinsr the central station there is apparent. ap-parent. But the plan is more than local in its application, and is of concern con-cern with out as well as within the mineral industry. The work to be performed per-formed at the various stations will favorably fav-orably influence all lines of business and industry in the Western states and is of importance to the entire country which now largely relies and will rely increasingly in the future on the Western states for its supplies of essential minerals. The West appears to be thoroughly united in this proposition, and it is to be hoped that it will have prompt and favorable action at Washington. It is one of the most important and meritor ions projects the West has presented to Congress in recent years. |
