Mount Pleasant City Council met in special session at the City Hall Friday night and discussed vital pri-blcms pri-blcms for the welfare of the City. A committee. Nils Larsen, John Nielson Niel-son and Ralph Poulsen petitioned the city for assistance on Second west street running North from Main. Councilman William L. Madsen favored fav-ored doing a substantial piece of Improvement Im-provement or wait for more funds and suggested that the city adopt a plan to work to on street improvement. Councilman Monsen told of the past plan followed in that line, and said that the pavement work on 5th. west and south to the gravel would begin soon and the road funds would be used in that direction. Councilman Peterson expressed a wish that citizens would meet with the Council in December and confer with them in making the budget. Capt. L. R. Christensen ask'.d tha Council to grant Battery D. pei mission to use water to shine up the equipment of the Battery and they would render service in return. The request was grr.ntod. New water pipe is being laid on th city water main running south on rotate street and Councilman Monsen was authorized to sell the old pipe to those desiring same. People wanting pipe may call on Mr. Monsen. The flood problem was discussed, and as we all know the rain brings them down the canyon, it was seriously-considered. seriously-considered. The attorney was asked for advice relative to securing money for the construction of the protection dam. It w:as decided to confer with bond houses. A narkin? 7one in the citv will soon be established. It was reported that the city had sold the old dump grounds west of town to J. Leo Seely for $10.00 witn the specification that he fence the place and clean it up. Instructions were given to place orders for a number of water meters. The mayor reported that the Library roof needs repairs and the building needs cleaning and the council appropriated appro-priated $100.00 to be used for that purpose. pur-pose. The Mayor contributed $10.00 and each councilman gave $5.00 towards to-wards the improvement to be made. Councilman Madsen suggested dragging drag-ging the streets and discussed the wish of the railroad company to have the speed limit lifted. It is desired to have a light on each side of the track at the R. R. Crossing. A clean Up campaign will be started soon and Mayor Hansen appointed a councilman to supervise each district, They are selected as follows: 1st. district, M. C. Peterson. 2nd. district, E. W. Wall. 3rd. district, William L. Madsen. 4th. district, J. D. Meyrick. 5th. district, Paul Monsen. A special meeting of the council was held Tuesday evening at which time arrangements were made with a bond company of Salt Lake City to furnish money to the city at four and one-half one-half per cent to finish building the flood dam in Mt. Pleasant. |
