Show Couple Observe Anniversary Mr and Mrs. J. Oscar Barton weie honored at a family dinner at their home Thursday evening in celebration of their sixty-thin; wedding anniversary and Mr. Barton's eighty-fourth birthday. Among the guests were friends and neighbors, sons,., daughters and grandchildren, and Mr. and Mrs. R. F. Starlcy of Delta. Mrs. Starley is a niece ot Mrs. Barton. Mr. and Mrs Barton wen; among the earliest settlers of Mt. Pleasant. Mrs. Barton was born in the Eighteenth ward in Salt Lake, April 13, 1851. a daughter of William S. and Elizibeth Hart Seely, pioneers of 1847. She fame with her parents to Mt. Pleasant at the time of its settlement settle-ment in 1859. Her father wa, the first bishop of the community. Mr. Barton was bcrn October 29. 1847, in Pottawattamie county. Iowa. He came to Utah in 1843 with his parents. John and Susannah Su-sannah Wilkinson Barton, settling in Bountiful. The family carr.c to Mt. Pleasant in 1861. Mr. and Mrs. Barton were mar-i mar-i led in Mt. Pleasant, October 3') Ki68. Beth huve been active ln church and civic organizations. Mr Barton was first counselor to Bishop Jefferson Tidwell of In-dinr.ola In-dinr.ola from 1878 to 1883. He Is an Indian war veteran. Three of their seven sons and daughters are living: W. O. Barton, Bar-ton, Sterling, Canada; J. C. Barton Bar-ton and Mrs. Leonard Frandsen, Mt. Pleasant, also 17 grandch'l-dren grandch'l-dren and 34 great-grandchildren. Both Mr. and Mrs. Barton sri remarkably well considering their advanced ages. They told many stories of pioneer life at the celebration. cele-bration.
