Show Wasatch Band Gives Concert Prize-Winning Organization Appears, Ap-pears, Plays to Crowd of 3O00 Under the auspices of the Mount Pleasant Lions club, the Wasatch high school band of Heber entertained enter-tained about 3000 persons from Mt. Pleasant, Fairview, Moroni, and Spring City at the local L. D. S. church grounds Monday from 9 to 10:30 a. m. with musical selections se-lections and a girls' military drill. The band was returning from the sixteenth annual convention of the International Lions club at Lcs Angeles last week, . where the took first prize for bands and second se-cond prize for the girls' military drill team, in competition with similar organizations from various parts of the United States. The band is composed . of 92 high school students of both sexes, and is known as one of the outstanding out-standing junior band organizations organiza-tions in the west. Storm McDonald, secretary -treasurer of the organization; Delmar Dickson, leader; Principal W. J. Bond of Wasatch high school; Superintendent R. F. Nii-sson Nii-sson of the Wasatch school district, dis-trict, all of Heber City, and P. I,. Holman of Mt. Pleasant, field secretary sec-retary of the Associated Clubs of Southern Utah, were introduced and responded with short talks. Henry P. Olsen of the Mt. Pleasant Pleas-ant city council welcomed the organization. or-ganization. Fred Rasmussen, president pres-ident of the Lions cluo, was master mas-ter of ceremonies. Previous to the concert luncheon lunch-eon was served to the band party, totaling about 110. |
