Show Civil Service Examinations The following Civil Service examinations ex-aminations for positions in the government will be given in the near future. ASSOCIATE PHYSICAL METALLURGIST MET-ALLURGIST (WELDING) : The entrance salary is $3,600 a year, less a furlough deduction of 8 1-3 per cent and retirement deduction, of 3V: per cent. The examination is to fill a vacancy for temporary employment, in the Ordnance Department De-partment at large, Watertown Arsenal, Ar-senal, Mass., and vacancies occurring occur-ring throughout the United States in positions requiring similar qualifications, qual-ifications, either for temporary or permanent employment. Applicants will not be required to report for examination at any place, but will be rated on their education, training train-ing and experience, and on writings writ-ings to be filed with applications. Competitors will not be required to report for a written examination, but will be rated on their training, experience and fitness on a scale of 100, such ratings being based upon competitors' competi-tors' sworn statements in their applications ap-plications and upon corroborative evidence. For the positions of Bricklayer and Stonemason, applicants appli-cants must have completed an apprenticeship ap-prenticeship of four years in the respective trade, or must have had at least four years of practical experience ex-perience in such trade, the substantial sub-stantial equivalent of a completed apprenticeship. For the positions of Senior Bricklayer and Senior Stonemason, applicants must have had the experience above required, and, in addition, must have had at least one year of journeyman experience ex-perience in the trade for which application is made.
