Show Conservative Labor It is an old belief that prolonged prolong-ed economic distress will express Itself in social unrest. Yet in this third year of a severe depression, the chief industrial nations have been scarcely troubled by threats against established institutions. The Labor masses today in their trade unions are acting politically in the Socialist parties, are predominantly pre-dominantly aligned with the forces forc-es of moderation and stability. Though present conditions are frequently described as marking the "breakdown" of the modern industrial system, it ill be noted that today popular discontent is in the main agrarian. New York Times. |
