Show Winners Announced In Literary Contest Following are the winners in the annual F. C. Jensen literary contest for Wasatch Academy students, held Tuesday evening in the First Presbyterian church: Orations, Harvey Howard, "Abraham "Ab-raham Lincoln," first place; Moyle Mills, "The Tragedy of the Drifter," Drif-ter," and Aldus Smith, "What is College For," tied for second place. Declamations, George Diumenii, "Why I Blacka da Boots," first place; Louise Burton, "Her First Ride in an Ottymobile," and Elmer El-mer Hasmeyer, "A Knight Above Reproach," tied for second place. Essays, Georgia Gilchrist, "Fare well High School," first; Gwen Hickman, "Books For Every Need." second. Mrs. S. H. Gill, Mrs. F. J. Neil-son Neil-son and Attorney L. R. Christen-sen Christen-sen were the judges. The prizes were $5.00 cash for first and $3.00 for second place in each event. Mrs. F. C. Jensen is the donor. Awards were presented by Principal Prin-cipal A. J. Poncel. Musical numbers included: Cornet Cor-net sclo, Harvey Howard; selections, selec-tions, Girls Glee Club; vocal duet, Mrs. S. H. Gill and Miss Alice Dix. |
