Show 0r Tax Burdens Need Adjustment Recently there was held at Mt. Pleas nr. a meeting of the School Boards of '.he South and North Sanpete School Ustricts: Superintendent E. T. Reid of he South and Superintendent A E Jones of the North District County Agent C. O. Stott, State Senator W. D andland of Mt. Pleasant, and State Representative;- A. M. Melior of Manti, xnd Jacob Thompson of Ephraim This meeting was for the special purpose pur-pose of considering the tax problem, md a discussion of proposed legislation legisla-tion looking to greater equality in th Jistribution of the tax burden. The system of the present general property tax system was pointed out. .'he meeting went on record as favoring favor-ing or equalizing the school financing burden. It was proposed that other sources of income be created and thus lighten the burden on real property. The Utah Educational Association, the Utah School Boards Association, -he Utah Realtors Association, the State Federation of Women's Clubs, and other organizations are working as a unit with the Utah State Farm Bureau in this most important matter of tax reform. |
