Show Wild Bull Pampas Is Returning to the Ring Louis Angel Firpo, who fought Jack Dempsey for the world's heavyweight championship, ended a three-year retirement re-tirement by resuming public training for a proposed return to the ring. The erstwhile "Wild Bull of the Pampas," weighing a modest 230, punched the bag, shadow boxed, and tussled with three sparring partners. "I weighed about this much after several months of private training," Firpo explained. "I was this heavy when I fought Spalla back In 1925." The big Argentine boxer said he would attempt to reduce further, and would come to the United States next March or April if able to achieve a satisfactory condition. Firpo maintains a coy silence as to bis intention of Joining the competition competi-tion for the championship vacated by Gene Tunney. |
