Show Forest Notes Lions Ranger Cox reports that Biological Bio-logical Survey trappers captured two mountain lions one large one and one medium sized one on the mountains west of Ephraim, Sat-j Sat-j urclay November 21. Fresh tracks are also reported as having been seen in Manti Canyon. Remittances To Be Made To Regional Fiscal Agent The Supervisor's office has been advised that beginning January 1, 1932, all remittances in connection with grazing permits, timber sales, etc., on the National Forests are to be made payable to the Regional Fiscal Agent, Ogden, Utah, instead of to the Federal Reserve Bank as heretofore. More Elk Randall Turpin, Orange Olsen and Newell Cox have recently kil- led three fine elk in the vicinity of Reeder Ridge. They also bagged bag-ged a large elk that had been wounded during the hunt and this animal will be turned over to the State Department. They report that fourteen bull elk were seen on Reeder Ridge from which herd they made their kills. Othei-hunters Othei-hunters are attempting to get their elk before the season closes on November 25. Unfortunately the upon season on elk has Ix-en tho stormies; period experienced in more than a year. In some locations loca-tions the snow has been exceptionally excep-tionally deep. Porcupines Frank Lomon, the rider for the Ferron C & H Association, reports having killed sixty porcupine.-; during the pait season. According Accord-ing to Mr. Lomon's report it was necessary fcr him to rope twenty-five twenty-five cattle and extract pcrjupinj quills from their noses. Van On Leave Forest Clerk Van Boshirk is spending his annual leave in Nebraska Ne-braska and other mid-west rtate?.. The question has been asked by some of his friends as to whether or not he has gone east to get married. We are net sure on ihat po.nt, however, we would be willing wil-ling to bet a new hat that Vai. is burning up ihe roads whereever he goes in that new Ford of his. Livestock Meetings During the past week the Sup-1 ervisor and Hangers have been checking over grazing plans with the officers of tne various C .: H associations on the Manti Forest. On the Emery County side cf the range, the stockmen are asking j that arrangements be made tc utilize ut-ilize some of the dry grass that remains on the Forest sometime between February 1 and May 15, the date the regular grazing season seas-on opens. Owing to a shortage ol both feed and water on the East desert, the stockmen expect to find it extremely difficult to caie for their livestock during the corning corn-ing winter. Sheep Cross Mountain By Way Of Black Canyon And Oak Creek Niels Darn, Orrin Jensen and other sheep owners of Spring City drove their sheep across the mountain by way of Black Canyon Can-yon and Oak Creek one day last week. They report three feet ol snow for some distance along the top. The snow was loose and a good drag ahead of the herd made crossing possible. This is perhaps the latest date sheep have crossed the mountain in several years and the owners were fortunate in getting get-ting across before the last storm which deposoted several inches cl new snow at the higher elevations. Visitor Forest Ranger Ivan Pyreng from the Toiyabe Forest called at the Supervisor's office November 17. He reports winter ranges per- haps a little better in Nevada than in Utah.
