Show Pioneers Hold Big Meeting i 1 Reunion Program Attract Many Former Residents Resi-dents of City The twenty-third annual celebration cele-bration of the Mt. Pleasant Pioneer Pion-eer Historical association, marking mark-ing the seventy-third anniversary of the settling of Mt. Pleasant, was held here Friday. Many former for-mer residents of this community came from every section of the state to attend this annual '"homecoming." The following program was presented pre-sented in the L. D. S. North ward chapel at 2 p. m., with James Larsen, president of the association associ-ation in charge: Selections, North and South ward choirs, directed by Mrs. Glennis Scovil; invocation, invoca-tion, Christian Johansen; taitr "Mt. Pleasant's Early Business Houses and Business Men," State Senator W. D. Candland; saxaphone saxa-phone solo, Gordon Staker; vocal duet, Mr. and Mrs. George Squire; address, N. S. Nielsen; humorous stories, State Representative P. O. Petersen of Ephraim; vocal selection, selec-tion, "Love's Old Sweet Song," Mr. and Mrs. Jay Hafen, Mrs. Glennis Scovil, and Evan Beck; greetings and tributes to the pioneers, pion-eers, Amasa Aldrich and O. N. Lund of Salt Lake, former residents resi-dents of Mt. Pleasant, were read by O. M. Aldrich; benediction, S. A. Barton. The following officers were reelected: re-elected: President, James Larsen; vice president, Joseph Monson; secretary-treasurer, Mrs. Hilda Madsen Longsdorf; assistant secretary, sec-retary, O. M. Aldrich; directors, James Monson, E. C. Johnson, Mrs. Henry Ericksen, Mrs. Miranda Mir-anda Oman, Mrs. Emma West, Ole Hansen, L. C. Rasmussen, O. T. Madsen, Mrs. Willard Fraud-sen, Fraud-sen, R. W. Candland, V. H. Oun-dersen, Oun-dersen, Elmer Jensen, F. J. Nell-son, Nell-son, J. Fred Staker, and Mrs. T. C. Candland. Justus Seely waa elected a director to succeed his father, the late Joseph Seely. Following the meeting all pioneers, pion-eers, honor guests and out of town visitors were entertained at a luncheon at the public library. The concluding feature of the day's celebration was a costume ball featuring pioneer dress, colonial col-onial costumes, and various na-tionalties, na-tionalties, In Armory halt Old and new dances were featured fea-tured and pioneer refreshment! were served to several hundred ' guests. |
