Show Wasatch Selects Four Senior Honor Students Selection of the four senior honor students at Wasatch Academy Aca-demy has just been announced by the acad'.'rw faculty staff. Alfred Owens, Rav.ulett, Utah, was award ed first i-lace. Gwen Oldroyd, Fail view, Utah, Thelda Boyd, Ibapah and Lawrence Phiilipps, Guther, Utah won second, third s.nd fourth places, respectively. The four students will deliver a'ks as a part of the commence-ijunt commence-ijunt program. Honor students are chosen on the basis of scholarship, schol-arship, character and participation participa-tion in school activities, the rate being 3:1:1, with emphasis upon scholarship. Owens has been prominent in athletics, being captain of the 1931 football team, and Is the present student body president. He also served as president of the junior class. Miss Oldroyd and young Phiilipps have won j honors in music and dramatics. Miss Boyd is the editor of the I school paper, and president of the Girl Reserves. She has also been active in dramatics. Phiilipps is the third member of his family to win an honor place, the award having been given previously to an older brother and sister. j The senior class of Wasatch ! Academy has voted to continue the precedent ( set last year, and I use caps and gowns during the commencement activities. The I move was decided upon in the in-I in-I terest of economy. Up to last year the girls of the senior class j were required to make their own graduation dresses, the cost being limited to five dollars. Mr. and Mrs. Elliot Johnsen i of Ephraim announce the birth of a daughter, Monday, February 29. Mrs. Johnsen was formerly Miss Christie Jacobsen of this citv. Mrs. John K. Madsen, Mrs. Christian Johansen, Mrs. Hyrum , Christensen and Mrs. James C. I .inhansen were Monroe visitors . Wednesday, guests of Mrs. Tlllle B. Johansen Collings. |
