Show ILLINOIS STRUCK B LAHGETORNADO FOUR COUNTIES SWEPT BY A SERIES OF WINDSTORMS; SCHOOLS AND TOWNS HIT Teacher Saves Pupils, But Loses Life; Damage to Properties and Spring Crops Heavy Springfield, III. Tearing a straight line through eisc central Illinois counties, coun-ties, a series of tornadoes and lino squalls Tuesday brought death to up ward of two score persons, injury to 200 others and left scores in a dozen communities homeless. Uncertainty colored all reports and gave rise to the belief that further reports may send the fatality and injury figure higher or eliminate some names from the list of dead. Where damage w;is heaviest, wires are dov.n and definite reports are availablo only from those who are penetrating the territory over tree-strewn md water-soaked roads by horse and wagon.
