Show RED CROSS NOTES. The local chapter of the Red Cross was given a big "lift" in the shape of a present of $10.30 for the Linen Shower fund from the members of the La Cheree Soiree club, who, wish, ing to show their patriotism, sold popcorn Saturday evening at the Elite Theatre. About 200 bags were sold and the proceeds given to the Red Cross. The articles for the linen shower have all been completed now by the Mt. Pleasant, Fairview and Spring City branches and will be shipped to Denver as soon as they have been laundered. It is impossible to render a full account of all the funds received re-ceived in this drive as not all solicitors solicit-ors have reported yet. However, all reports now in show that the drive has met with a generous response. The work rooms will remain crosea until the next allotment is received. The mourning brassards provided for those who have lost relatives in the service can now be supplie'd by Division Headquarters and the local chapter will order as soon as the various branches are heard from. The $100.00 fine imposed upon the Moun't Pleasant Mill & Power Co. by W. W. Armstrong, Federal Food Administrator, Ad-ministrator, was paid this week to the local chapter. One new member, Mrs. C. W. Sorensen, was enrolled this week and Mrs. A. S. Nilson, Mrs. Rex Jensen and Mrs. R. Whittaker renewed their subscriptions. A number of special contributions were received as follows: fol-lows: Mrs. Mary O. Madsen $1.00, Miss Eliza Jones $1.00, Mrs. R. . Whittaker $1.50, and Alma Rosenberg Rosen-berg $5.00. For the Belgian Relief : a cash contribution of $6.00 was re- i ceived from the Round Hills from residents west of town 75c, and from Mount Pleasant $1.00. |
