Cherry of thi city was nominated for Justice of t.o Supreme Su-preme Court for the ten year term, by the Republican State Convention, at Salt Lake City, last Friday. This is a very high honor, both to Mr. Cherry, and to his community, The vote in the convention gave the nomination to Mr. Cherry, on the first ballot for the ten year term, by a large majority over three other aspirants, as-pirants, which shows that Mr. Cherry is held in high esteem over the state generally. Mr. Cherry has lived in this city for a long time, and is well known as a good lawyer and a good citizen, and well qualified for this position. The people of this vacinity, regardless regard-less of politics, consider this nomination nomina-tion as selecting "the right man for the right place," and it is safe to say that he will receive a flattering support sup-port at the polls on election day. Besides being a good lawyer and a good citizen, Mr. Cherry is conspicuously con-spicuously a good American. His active and effective services and contributions to all the recent War Work has won him many new admirers. ad-mirers. His son, Alfred, now fighting fight-ing at the front in France, was one of the first volunteers from Mount Pleasant, after war was declared. If Mr. Cherry is elected to this high office, he will give a good account ac-count of himself, because he is naturally natu-rally cut out for this kind of a position. |
