Show NEILSON GALLS ON PEOPLE TO 5UBSDHIBE FREELY MIL LOAN N. S. Neilson, chairman of the 4th Liberty Loan Committee for Sanpete county, makeg a stirring appeal to the good citizens of this county to come forward and put the Fourth Loan "Over the Top" and back up the soldiers who are fighting for the Freedom of the world. Sanpete will do her full duty, but we have not yet reached the goal. The following is Mr. Neilson's appeal: ap-peal: My fellow citizens of Sanpete County: I am highly pleased and gratified with the spontaneous response to the 4th Liberty Loan, yet there are & good many who ought to take a small bond who have not responded to the call. I would like to impress upon you the urgent necessity for you to come forward at once and subscribe and thereby prove your patriotism and loyalty to your country coun-try and yourself. No one can afford to be a slacker vfhile our boys are giving their all. Back them up with all your might and means. We at home can do but very little in comparison com-parison with what they are doing for us, so do not wait, but act at once. Gt the spirit belling the Bonds. See behind the paper represented the long line of khaki clad men, the ships everlastingly crossing and re-crossing re-crossing the seas in spite of death itself lurking under every wave. You must see millions of shells, tons of amunition, thousands of planes and guns, doctors, nurses, hospitals -everything that war means. Picture i this to yourself. You are standing , on a hill overlooking a battlefield, ' the hand 'of your watch moves the t zero hour, it is here. The boys lean from the trenches; the scattered lines move forward as you watch. Here and there a man drops, one picks himself up, staggers forward, drops again and lies still. Another drops in the agony of a mortal wound, but the line moves forward and leaves him. What would you do then if money could help him? What would you do if any sacrifice of yours could give practical assistance or inspire that struggling khaki line crawling, elimb ing and running into the very Jaws of death? You would give your last cent. You would strip yourself naked. You would rise to such heights of sacrifice and devotion as every man of them Is doing. Liberty Bonds represent principal and interest? Yes but first of all they represent lives, the best and bravest, the flower of our youth who have gone unquestioning Into the Great Adventure with a song on their lips. They didn't say "What profit do I get what interest?", but they thought, in their hearts, "What I shall it profit a man if he gain the J whole world and lose his own soul?" |
