My clothes are kept ill good repair, ' They'll shave my l':u:e and cut uiy hair, There's blacking, too, to shine my shoes; In (act, there's everything bu booze. We've ha'tlits, and boats' in summer time, And shady nooks and hills to climh, Where cooling breezes there' abound, And souks of birds thai fly around. 1 here's Mowers and shrubs ill rica display, And fields of corn and wheat and hay; Potatoes,, lur nips, lima beans, Cabbage, onions and tons of greens. The dining hall from door to door Will seat a thousand men or more. Electric, fans to cool the air, And "Lovely Girls" to. teed you there. The food is roasted, baked and boiled, boil-ed, , ; ' And not one ounce of it , is spoiled; And served by ,.;irls the proper ,way, And this we ge-t three times a day. These iuws. hall girls are in their teens. ', . And handle swags of hash and beans: And if , you're . sick and don't :eel right, Thier smiles will help your appetite. Therc'3 baseball games and pietere shows, And groves where Ice cream parties goes; There's checkers, billiards, also pool. And concerts nights when It la cool. There's no excitement by the way, Unless it be on pension day; For this we have the "drys" to thank, For now our "dough" goes In the bank. We, know there's people, far and near, Who wish they could be living here; And though they have their mansions man-sions fine, I'm more than satisfied with mine. icq t iliink thov know I am An honored guest of Uncle Sam. These soldiers' homes where e'er they be. Were built for soldiers same as me. And in these homes we live and die, Beneath "Old GUwy" flying high, These men, though old, ain't hard to please, Though some are suffering from disease. Cut not one word do they complain, "For what they founght was not in vain," They know the time will soon arrive, When these "Old Vts" won't be alive. And though they've learned the "Soldier's trade" They knew that now they are repaid; Cut still these eHomes they will exist For men who've courage to enlist. To' see "Our Flags" not trampled down, "That our forefathers handed down." So in these Homes for many a year, There will be soldiers coming here. i ' Though wars and wars will never cease, In these Great Homes "they'll rest '.' in peace." . There's Chapels, two in every Home, One for Protestants, bne for Rome. |
