Mrs. John Allred of Salt Lake, who has been here for some time with iher mother, Mrs. Diantha Larsen, (started for her home in Salt Lake .Tuesday. She will visit with her sister, sis-ter, Mrs. McKeene at Pines for a few :days on her going trip. Mrs. William Osborne started for Castle Valley Monday to visit with her daughters but was detained at Colton on account of the Mammoth -.reservoir dam breaking and washing ,out the railroad east of that point. ,Mie was compelled to return home (Tuesday. Evard J. Larsen and Miss Virgie Beck, both of this city, were married at the Mauti Temple Wednesday and departed for Salt Lake with Mrs. j Larsen's father, Simon T. Beck, in li is automobile the same day. They, will be at home to their friends in the near future at their home in the southern part of the city. j The Alathea club was delightfully entertained last Friday at the home of Mrs. Milton Burns of Birch Creek, "Michigan" was given by Mrs. Kate-Strate Kate-Strate (being her home state), views of the most interesting parts were shown; an editorial from the Ladies' Home Journal was read by Mrs. Morgan Mor-gan Johnson; music and singing were very beautifully rendered by Miss Lois Allred and Miss Laural Miner. Most delicious refreshments were Served by the hostess, a vote of thanks being given her by the club members. Mrs. Peacock, Mrs. Bench, Mrs. A. U. Miner, Miss Laural Miner of Fairview, Miss Lois Allred of .Spring City and Mrs. G. F. Tipton of Denver were special guests. After the club meeting Mrs. A. U. Miner invited in-vited the club members to see their large, well-equipped barn, full of pure-bred cows, a demonstration of milking with a milking machine prov ed very interesting. Spring City will celebrate Independence Indepen-dence Day in a very appropriate manner, man-ner, a sane and sensible Fourth being the idea to be carried out. Children's Chil-dren's dance at the Lyceum Theatre afternoon, 2 o'clock. Various sports at City Park at 3 o'clock; ball game, Married Ladies vs. Girls, 4 o'clock; Ball Game, Married. Men vs. Single Men, 5 o'clock. Dance in the evening even-ing for all, Lyceum Theatre. A meeting of the citizens was called call-ed to convene at the meeting house Saturday evening by chairman J. M. Johnson in charge of the Red Cross contributions here. Talks in favor of liberal giving and the important cause for which it would be expended expend-ed were made by Bishop Samuel All-red All-red and Mayor John P. Johnson. It was decided to appoint a committee of ten ladies to solicit for Red Cross Hinds, the following ladies being chosen, with Mrs. S. , E. Hyde as chairman of the committee, Geneva Justesen, Anna Johnson, Olga Black, Mabel Aldrich, Marion Allred, Carrie Aldrich, Stella Billington, Adelaide Schofield, Jennie Watson, Leah Strate. Mr. Baxter of the Lyceum having offered the house to the chairman chair-man at the cost of the production, it was decided to run a picture show for this worthy cause on Wednesday evening, which was very well patronized pat-ronized by the puldic. Bishop Allred advised that Sunday, Jiuly 1, had been set apart as Red Cross Sunday and all the children had been requested to bring contributions as well as the parents who had not already given to the solicitors. Chairman Johnson announced an-nounced in the picture show that about $200 had already been given and that did not include the picture show profit and a number of places remained to be visited on account of the solicitors finding a number of people away when they had called. It is expected that when all of the funds are in that a very nice showing will have been made. De:m Schofield a Salt Lake and, jgden business visitor for a few days. I -Mrs. C. A. Christensen entertained at a very pleasant luncheon and social so-cial at her home ' Wednesday afternoon. after-noon. Her guests were Stella Olson, Mary Peterson, Mrs. Arbrelia Hinckley, Hinck-ley, Muriel Simpson, Mrs. D. R. Jensen, Jen-sen, .Mrs. Rhea Hoyden and Mabel Horg. Stella Olson entertained the same ladies the preceding Wednesday. Wednes-day. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Monsen came down from Payson Monday. They are visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Monsen. |
