Show ML PLEASANT HAS JOY PARADE WHEN GERMANY. SURRENDERS HAPPY CHAOS PREVAILS THROUGHOUT THE DAY Mount Pleasant heralde'd the joyful joy-ful news from France Monday morning morn-ing of the surrender of Germany to the Allies. The message was wired down Trom Salt Lake City at about 2 o'clock a. m. by the publisher pub-lisher of the Pyramid. The great joy . reigned uncontrollable as the people of this community began arousing themselves from their slumbers. Bells were ringing thewhole day long. At 11 o'clock a. m. a parade was formed on Main Street with Earl Seely and Robert H. Hinckley leading by hauling Kaiser Bill's goat in a livestock auto truck. The City fire truck came next with the band. Then a long trail of automobiles followed reaching out about two miles in length. They passed through Spring City, Chester, the Sugar Factory Fact-ory and Moroni. At each place many joined in the great celebration. A condition of happy chaos prevailed pre-vailed throughout ' the entire day. Mayor Candland, Councilman John Gunderson and other city officials joined in and encouraged the citizens to have one grand jubilee. Men vied with each other in the making of hilarity and unmeasured jollity. Age strived with youth, ana boy with girl in the jubilee enthusiasm. Intensifying ' the riotous revelry, every imaginable agency capable of producing noise and. racket was employed. em-ployed. v Cans and cow bells battered noisily throughout the entire parade. All business in the city was closed for the day. Memory was turned back to the time when the angels chanted the Heaven-born anthem, "Peace on Earth, Good Will Toward Men." |
