Show JOHN UAK FAIRVIEW. Dean Badham of Payson is the guest of Miss' Tressa Lindquist. Miss Fern Hurst of Mapleton is visiting her sister Mrs. Sylvanus Howell. Miss Aletha Allred of Spring City is the guest of her sister Mrs. Wendell Wen-dell Peacock. Stanley Cox, who has been attending attend-ing school at the B. Y. U., has returned re-turned home to work on the farm. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence .Vance, who spent the past winter at Magna, returned re-turned home this week. Mrs. Rheuben Short of Ogden, who visited relatives the past ten days at Fairview, returned home this week. Mrs. John F. Allred and daughters Armina and Dora of Spring City visited vis-ited Mrs. Chanucey Howell this week. Miss Lura Tanner, who is attending attend-ing school at the B. Y. U., spent the past week with her parents and friends at Fairview. Arthur Peterson came home from Park City this week to visit friends and relatives before leaving for Camp Lewis. Mrg. Joseph Briggs, who spent the past month in Fairview, returned home thjis week. Her small boy who had pneumonia while here is fully ful-ly recovered. Douglas Sanderson and Arthur Peterson Pe-terson left Wednesday for Camp Lewis. They are Fairview boys but have to report in the cities where they registered last June. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Larsen came over from Clear Creek and spent a few days with relatives here this week. Mr. Larsen leaves soon for Camp Lewis, to enter the service of Uncle Sam. Mrs. Ezekiel Cheney and Mrs. Flren Peterson went to Thistle Thursday to meet their brother Mr. Hambrick of Castle Dale, who is on his way to Camp Lewis to join the colors. Mr. and Mrs. Monte Jenkins of Salt Lake City visited relatives at Fair-view Fair-view and Milburn this week. Mr. Jenkins leaves soon to go to Camp Lewis, where he will enter the service serv-ice of Uncle Sam. A (lancing party was given ' on Tuesday evening in honor of the soldier sol-dier boys who leave soon for Camp Lewis. Nine boys who will soon leave were present: Ray Tanner, Laurin Peterson, Arthur Peterson, Hilden Peterson, Douglas Sanderson, Lawrence Lawr-ence Larsen, James Mower, Monte Jenkins and Francell Stewart. A stirring patriotic speech was given by Sidney Sanderson; "Keep the Home Fires Burning" was sung by Laurel Miner. Fairview now has' a service flag with thirty-six stars on it, which means that thirty-six of our boys are in the service of Uncle Sam, which is about 2 per cent of our population. Our Red Cross workers have been doing very good work lately, they now have nine sewing machines in their workroom. TKe energetic work the ladies have done is much appreciated appre-ciated by those who have the work in charge. They have recently turned In 50 bed shirts, 35 pajamas, 7 pair of bed socks, 9 knitted sweaters, 5 pairs of knitted socks. 6 feather comfort com-fort pillows. Also a box of bandages containing 38 triangular bandages, 29 T bandages, 30 abdominal ban-dagos. ban-dagos. They have nyule two excellent quilts out of scraps, which will be sold to help the finances. The financial fi-nancial committee are making an effort ef-fort to enlist more members ami are also asking for donations for The lied i.'ross. The list of members and do naters will be ready for publication soon. They will also publish names of slackers who will neither join nor donate. .bout two hundred dollars have been collected this week. |
