I!., son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter justpsen of Moroni, Utah, has bepn awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for gallantry in action. The cablegram received from General Persuing contains the following citation cita-tion regarding Private Justesen: "Private William A. Justesen, U. S. M. ('. for extraordinary heroism tn -action, inear Vierzy, France, nineteen nine-teen July, nineteen eighteeen. He displayed exceptional bravery in charging three machine guns with the aid of p s'nall detachment of his comrades, killing the-crews and capturing cap-turing the guns, which were Immediately Immedi-ately turned on the Germans, thereby opening the line for the advance of his comps'ny which had been held up by the enemy's fire." He enl'sted in the reserve for four years, leaving Moroni on January 27. 1918. He was first located at Mare Island, then he was sent to Quantico. Virginia, .and three weeks later left for France.. Mrs. Florn Peterson went to Green River this week, to attend the funeal of her nephew, Melvin Swasey. Mr. and Mrs. X. Ii. Pritcheil started start-ed for Los Angeles Saturday. They will also visit relatives in Arizona while enroute. They will return by way of Oregon and Washington where they will also visit relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Brown of Murray visited relatives here the Core part of the week. Mrs. Sarah A. Brown, Mrs Emma Reading and Mrs. Elizabeth Dunster of Murray spent the week with relatives. rela-tives. The ladies literary Club met at the home of Mrs. Swen O. Nielson March 12. A reading "The lire of St Patrick," Pat-rick," was given by Mrs. Wendell Peacock. A vocal duet was given by Mrs. Ellis Coombs and Mae Madsen. Mrs. Leoty Turpin read a poein from Rhymes of a Red Cross Man. During the social hour the guests were entertained en-tertained with selections from the Edison. Mrs. Selma Fahring and little sou Ray of Sunnyside is a guest at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Lassen. Andrew Lassen went to Salt Lake City Sunday to receive medical treatment. treat-ment. He has been in poor health for some time. On March .7 Mrs. John Ch'stensoii entertained at a quilting party in honor of her fifieth birthday. A pleasant afternoon was spent and an excellent dinner served. On Friday evening a number of friends gave Hyrum Mower a surprise party in honor of his birthday. Luncheon Lun-cheon was served. Ira Holman was a Salt Lake City visitor last week his brother Brooks Holman returned with him and spent a few days in Fairview. Lewis Mills came from Garfield last week. - Mr. and Mrs. Sylvanis Howell went to Salt Lake City last saiurday with their little daughter Neva.'
