Show Returned Heroes Given Royal Welcome Last Friday. The returned soldiers of Mount Pleasant were treated to a most joyful joy-ful welcome by the City last Friday afternoon and evening. The following patriotic program was enjoyed at the Elite Theatre at two o'clock p. m.: Selection Mt. Pleasant Orchestra. Invocation Bishop H. C. Jacobs. "America" First verse by . the audience. Introduction Mayor W. D. Candland. Cand-land. "Flag Without a 'Stain" Duet by Miss Ruby Larsen and Miss Ruth Monsen. Address Rev. R. B. Norton. Violin solo David Shepherd! "Flashes from Field and Camp Sergeant Newton Clemenseu and Lieutenant Seymour Jensen. Vocal solo Miss Goldie Nielsen. Reading Miss Mariam Thurman. Address C. W. Sorensen. Selection Orchestra. Benediction Bishop H. C. Jacobs. A spirit of enthusiasm pervaded the audience during the entire program. pro-gram. Following the meeting a banquet was given in the Armory Hall and a large number of citizens joined the honored guests in a grand feast. During Dur-ing the banquet the Orcnesira gave a concert which was much appreciated appreciat-ed by all present. Mayor Candland officiated during the day's enjoyments. In the evening a grand ball was ' given in honor of the soldiers and the hall was crowded to its capacity. |
