Show KIVIDKD W'li FA IX 10 very man has his own mind, and our laws accord him thd right to free thought and speech. This freedom, however, shoul 1 not lead us Into channels of thinking and speaking that produce frict'ou and a population divided against itself. In union there Is 8tren,gth. In discord we face nothing but mediocrity medi-ocrity and disaster. We are a community unto ourselves, our-selves, yet we should not live each unto himself. As a community we owe a duty to other communities, to our state, ana to the nation. It Is this community of interests that has made our country great, and progressive, and prosperous beyond any other country upon which the sun shines. It Is the same community of Interests In-terests that will build up our own city ir we employ It in our business and social life. No nation today can live entirely into itself and continue prosperous as the years roll by. No stale can il: il, and neither can any city, or I, iv u or individual. We must harmonize our differences differ-ences for the public good and then work together for the advancement Of our common interests. Uninted, we push onward to greal- er successes and achievements. Divided, we fall by the wayside and are soon forgotten. |
