Show TEACHERS III- STITUTE Al I. PUT According to Supt. J. W. Anderson the opening institute for the North Sanpete School District held here today, was one of the most enthusiastic enthusi-astic educational gatherings ever held here and was attended by practically prac-tically every teacher in the district. E. J. Norton, assistant state superintendent super-intendent of public instruction, was the principal speaker at the first session, ses-sion, speaking on "Qualifications and Certification of Teachers." At tha afternoon session he discussed, "Financial Questions as Affecting the Schools of the State." C. W. Sorensen, member of the board of education from Mt. Pleasant welcomed the out-of-town educators and John R. Graham of Fairview, president of the board addressed the teachers at the second session on "What the board expects of the teachers." "Details of School Organization Organ-ization in this District," was tha subject of Supt. James W. Anderson's talk. in the afternoon two sectional meetings were held for the hign .' :'iiool and junior high school teachers teach-ers and primary teachers presided over by Prof, Louis A. Petersen, and Mrs. Fannie C. Miles, district primary pri-mary supervisor, respectively, aud the organization of their work discussed. dis-cussed. "v Music for the sessions, in addition to community singing was furnished by the Misses Blackham and Sorensen Soren-sen of Moroni, Miss Christie Clarit of Mount Pleasant and Jesse Young of Fairview. The schools of -the district will open Monday with the exception of Moroni Wales and Chester, whero sahvol has boon in seslion ,aincef August 28th. Due to the long beet vacation which these schools have li: October and November it was deemed deem-ed advisable to open them two weeks before the other schools of the district. |
