L ieasant was held at the North Sanpete High School auditorium ast Wednesday night at 8 o'clock by the Republicans of this 'ity. John Gunderson acted as chairman of the meeting, with i- V . Candland as secretary. The secretary read the call which was for the selection of leven delegates to attend the County convention at Gunnison Saturday and also to select candidates chosen for possible! aommees on the county ticket. C. W. Sorensen made an opening address in which he stated stat-ed that it was a very sensible thing for the people to turn out ;nd attend these primaries. He said that there were manv important things to be done in the near future and moved that 'die delegates be instructed to use their influence to secure the jthce of County Commissioner and State Senator for Mount Pleasant. A. E. Mcintosh then nominated James Monsen for the office of County Commissioner, and Joseph Seely nominated J. D. Mevrick as a canrlidafp fnr tln aam "riw ii vmve. -uciijlulo weie men cast and J. D. Meyrick received 234 and James Monsen 130, making 364 votes cast. Meyrick won by 104 majority. Mr. Monsen moved that the vote be made unanimous, which was carried. Mr. Meyrick then arose and thanked the people i'or their support, and said: "There's nothing dearer to me than Jiese widow women." ! H. C. Jacobs nominated W. D. Candland for candidate for he office of State Senator and was voted in by acclamation. J. B. Staker and J. W. McGann were candidates for the office of precinct justice. The votes cast were 66 for Staker and 59 for McGann. . j L. Croft Larsen was nominated for the office of Precinct Nonstable and was voted in by acclamation. The following delegates were selected to attend the County Convention : Joseph Seely, W. D. Candland, John Gunderson, H. C Jacobs, Bent R. Hansen, E. F. Gardemann, C. W. Sorensen, "i P. Sorensen, L. Croft Larsen, Frank Jones, and O. M. Aldrich. The following alternates were selected:, A. E. Mcintosh, Justus Seely, I. E. Jorgensen, P. A. Poulsen, J. D. Meyrick, Paul Monsen and Joseph Monsen. ,. j |
