Show We Could, But We Won't. We are fed upon war, and strikes, and profiteering, and the many other what-nots of the day. We are surfeited with the complaints com-plaints and the grievances of mankind. man-kind. The milk of human kindness has curdled and the benevolence of charity has vanished. We need a change. We need a little joy in life. We need to remember that there is a r'ght and a wrong a, justice and an injustice a straight and narrow path', and one as crooked as the h'airv legs of the devil. What a world this would be if we cculd all make a change if we could dig out the Golden Rule and place its tenets above avarive and greed, above suspicion and abuse. Y-.'e could bask in the sunshine of life and watch the clouds roll harmlessly harm-lessly by. We could see us a people of supermen, super-men, guided by the teachings of brotherly love instead of by those Of conquest and annexation. And we could see the light of joy in every heart, in every home. We could but we won't. |
