Show WORLD'S CHAMPION PAIS A VISIT TO ilJJLEAStlT Berkley Olsen, county recorder of Salt Lake county, brought Jack Dempsey, world's heavyweight champion, cham-pion, to Mt. Pleasant last Thursday afternoon for a short visit with Mr. and Mrs. Olson of this city. While here Mr. Olsen gave a dance at the Armory Hall so that the people of this city might see the world's greatest boxer. Mr. Dempsey enjoyed the quiet rest for the day here as he has been under strenous work for a long time. The big champion appeared very modest in his manner. He danced the old fashion waltz and two-step , like our fathers and mothers dance. He w;as accompanied here by his manager, Jack Kearns of New York. ;The two men , left Friday for Los Angeles where they will engage in .moving., picture production. Mr. Olsen says that 'Mr. Dempsey has entered en-tered into a contract to work with the Pathe Picture Corporation. According Ac-cording to information given out Mr. Dempsey is to get half of the proceeds pro-ceeds of the picture. He received a hundred thousanjl dollars for advance ad-vance money from the picture Co. j The champion told a representative representa-tive of the Pyramid that he expects to meet the English champion early next year either at New Orleans for ! $125,000 or at London for $175,000. : Either sum would give a man a fair start in life even though he didn't have anything else to fall back on. Mr. Olson's thoughtfulness is appreciated ap-preciated by his friends in Mount ! Pleasant for bringing Mr. Dempsey here to meet them.
