Show HERE'S TO MY MOTHER. Here's to my Mother, kind and true, I Who was brave enough to say, "Take this boy that I give to you, My own dear U. S. A. He has been taught to love Thee best, To serve Thee in direst need, He'll prove a man through any test, And to Thy commands give heed." These are the words my mother spoke And she smiled through her tear dimmed eyes. The good in me at once awoke; God grant that it never dies. But may I do my duty well. And walk in the path she trod. Return or not as who can tell? I'll dare to meet her, or God. Here's to my mother's eyes of blue, As she said good-by to me. They seemed to search me through and through, My inmost soul to see. God grant that I ne'er forget that gaze, T'will keep me straight to the last. And light the way through the darkest dark-est days, In future as in the past. Here's to my mother's heart of gold, Filled full of love for me. Enough left over to enfold All the boys across the sea. Her prayers ascend each morn and night, ( And, who of you would not gay That mother's prayers help win the fight? Yes! Mothers of boys MUST pray. Here's to my mother, watch and pray, With right on our side, we win. For after all, this deadly fray Will help to banish sin. T'will make the world a better place, So brace up and help us through. . And keep for me a smiling face, There's no mother jflst like YOU. MRS JESSIE SUNDWALL. |
