Show FAIRVIEW SECTION Mr. and Mrs. Loren Hamilton are rejoicing over the arrival of a baby boy at their home July 11. The stark visited the home of Ezra Vance July 18 and presented a fine baby boy. Miss Helen dinger of Mount Pleasant Pleas-ant is a guest at the home of her aunt, Mrs. Eph. Madsen. Charles Cheney of Salt Lake is a guest at the home of his father, Win. Cheney, Friday and Saturday. Miss Chloe Shepard and Mrs. Laurin Peterson of Mona were Fair-view Fair-view visitors1 last week. Mrs. Laura Porter and three children child-ren of Central are the guests at the home of Willard Mower and are visiting visit-ing friends. Mrs. Emily Moore of Salt Lake City and 'Mrs. Selma Fahring of Sunnyside are guest's at the home of their parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Lassen. Mrs. Mary C. Brown and Mrs. Lena Christensen of Richfield were guests of Mrs. James H. Sanderson last week. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Williams, who are home on furlough from the training camp in Texas, spent the week at Fairview as guests of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Lassen. Glen Graham of Richfield visited his cousin, Mrs. J. H. Sanderson, this week. He was on his way to the training camp where he enters the service of Uncle Sam. Mrs. James Larsen of Salt Lake City and Mrs. John W. Stevens of Idaho are the guests at the home of their mother, Mrs. A. L. Miner. Mrs. Ella Smith, who spent the past month with her niece, Mrs. Minnie Sanderson, went to Richfield Wednesday, Wednes-day, where she expects to make her home. She was formerly a resident of Sunnyside where her husband died about two months ago. Miss Agnes Lassen is visiting her parents', Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Lassen. Las-sen. Miss Lassen is a graduate nurse and has been head nurse at the Salt Lake County hospital .for nearly two years. She has now enlisted her services ser-vices and has been accepted by Uncle Sam. She expects to leave for France early in September. The ladies' literary club met July 12 and held their annual meeting In the form of a kensington, Mrs. Peacock, Pea-cock, Mrs. Larsen, Mrs. Danielson, Mrs. Madsen and Mrs. Sanderson acting act-ing as hostesses. New officers were selected for the coming year as follows: fol-lows: Mrs. HarryRasmussen, president; presi-dent; Miss Elsie Sorenson, vice-president; Mrs. Minnie Christianeon, secretary; sec-retary; Mrs. Helen Graham, treasurer Mrs. Estella D. Miner, corresponding secretary; Mrs. Ellis D. Coombs, Mrs. Blanche Olsen and Miss Mae Madsen were chosen as a program committee. After the reports were given delicious refreshments were served? consisting of the following: oat meal crackers, salad, rye and barley flour cookies, and ice cream. Twelve ladies were present. On Tuesday, July 16, the Relief Society of Fairview entertained the mothers, wives and sweet-hearts of our soldier boys in Uncle Sam's service. ser-vice. Badges of red ribbon and white ribbon with a blue star in It were presented pre-sented to each. Three women, viz Mrs. Laura Christensen, Mrs. Sarah B. Peterson and Mrs. Addie Mower were each given two as they all have two sons in the service. The following program was given at the gymnasium in honor of the wives and mothers of our soldier hoys, who now number more than fifty: Opening song, "Onward Christian Soldiers." Prayer by Mrs. Lottie Christensen. Song by Glee Club, "Just Before the Battle Mother." Speech of welcome and a tribute to wives and mothers by Pres. Sarah E. Fowles. Recitation by Marion B. Madsen. Song by the Cloe Club. Reading by Pearl Christensen. Vocal Solo, Mrs. Geneva Larsen. Reading composed by Mrs. Jessie Sundwall given by Caroline Madsen. Reading by Mrs. A. U. Miner. Sentiments and jokes by Mrs. Lizzie Liz-zie Anderson, Bertie Brady and Maud Olsen. . Closing song, "Old Glory." Benediction, Mrs. Francis Mower. Refreshments in keeping with the war times were served to about one hundred and twenty guests. Henry M. Christensen, forest ranger rang-er at the Mammoth range station, has lost a bay horse seven years old, branded with a V with a T over it on the- left hind leg. Weight about eleven hundred pounds. |
