Yet there are conditions under, which, a short memory wOuld be much more valuable. We would ben-i flit by forgetting the petty slights and insults; be ceasing to envy those more fortunate; by wiping from our mind all tr: ices of bitterness over wrongs and injustice. Such a faculty facul-ty for forgetting would leave in the human heart memories the antithesis of these, that would bless and sweeten swee-ten our lives and the lives of those about us. |
