Show FIRST LKJUOR CASE TO BE PROSECUTED UNDER NEW LAW AT MOUNT PLEASANT The first liquor case to be prosecuted prose-cuted in Mount Pleasant in violation of the new liquor law was tried before be-fore Justice Hyrum Seely's Court Saturday September 15, at 2 p. m. The offenders in the case were J. C. Barton and Fred Stansfield. The complaint filed against Barton was for having liquor in his possession. The complaint filed against Stansfield was for drinking. The Court imposed a fine of $50 on each of the men. The City Marshal discovered the offenders on State Street Friday evening in the act of violating the liquor law. The case was tried, however, how-ever, by the County on account of the new City ordinance-in conforming to the state law not going into effect until the first of October. |
