Show Big Celebraiiun on Fourth of Jul' The citizens of Mount Pleasant are preparing to nave a gala day mi tiie , 4th of July this year. Plans have already been outlined. At the meeting meet-ing held in the Commercial Club rooms last Monday evening the general gen-eral outline of the program for the day was drawn up as follow s: At sunrise the band will play at the raising of the flag and Peter Simpson and N. C. Juhansen will give the firing salute. Music will be given by the band at 9:31) u. m. Citizens will meet at the Assembly Hall at 10 a. m. Master of ceremonies, Mayor J. W. Anderson. Orator, Chaplain, Daniel Rasmussen. Musical Director, J. M. BoyJen. Program 1. Music by the band. - 2. Singing by the audience, "Rat- tie Hymn of the Republic." 3. Invocation bv Chaplain. 4. Girl's Chorus, under direction of TressieLarsen. 5. Reading of Declaration of Independence, In-dependence, by Judge Ferdinand Ericksen. 6. Piano Solo, Miss Mabk Borg. 7. Declamation, Stella Olsen. 8. Vocal Solo, Miss Estella Allen. 9. Oration, 10. Song, "America," by Audience. 11. Benediction. 12. Music by Band. Children's Sports will be given at the Church grounds in the North Ward from 1:30 to 3 p. m. There will be a special feature at the Park at 3:30 p. m. A chicken race by eight prominent citizens, Judge Ferdinand Ericksen, J. VV, Cherry, J. W. Anderson, A. D. Sutton, Sut-ton, 0. F. Wall, Rev. John Meeker. Following the chicken race will be a sham battle given by Company D. Then the Retail Clerks Baseball Team will try their best to defeat the Mt. Pleasant team. An admission - fee of 10, 20 and 30 cents will be ( v charged for meeting the expenses of v the da . There will be no soliciting ' - for expense money this year as a percentage per-centage of the gate receipts will be used for this purpos?. The attractions attrac-tions at the park will be the best that can be produced and the prices are such that all can s-e them. Mayor Anderson has issued an order or-der that no fire-crackers will be sold during the day, but a fireworks display dis-play will be given on the High School groundsat9 o'clock p. m. |
