Show ELEVEN BOYS DROWNED. Wooden Walk Leading to Municipal Bath House Gives Way. Lawrence, Mass. A narrow wooden walk leading over fifteen feet of water to the municipal bath house in the Merrimac river on Monday gave way under the stamping feet of a crowd of impatient hoys and eleven of the little fellows were drowned. The hoys, ranging in age from 9 to 15 years, were waitng for William B. Blythe, the bath house keeper, to open the door. No one knew how many were in the party, but it i" thought that forty is a conservative estimate. The boys were jumping up and down as they shouted to Blythe to open up, when the supports sup-ports sank and the walk extensioc dropped like a trap door, rolling th( lads into the river. |
