Show May Day Cele- j brated by Schools, j The May Day Celebration given by the Public schools Wednesday proved an entire success despite the very bad wind which arose in the earley forenoon. Instead of the children eating their luncheon on the church ground as planned, they were forced to remain re-main in the building for same but enjoyed it very much nevertheless. Out door sports, running jumping etc. were indulged in after dinner . until 3 o'clock when the crowning of the May Queen and braiding of the May pole was carried out at the Armory. Ar-mory. Following these events was a childrens dance. At 7 p. m. basket ball games were played between the Fairview and Mt. Pleasant Eighth Grade boys and" girls teams. The Fairview girls won the girls game by four points the score being 1 5 to 1 1 . The local-boys were victorious in their game score being 24 to 1? in favor of Mt. Pleasant.' r ollou tng this a large crowd turned turn-ed out to witness the crowning of the two Queens and braiding of the two May poles. The procession was beautiful Both Queens, all maids and pages made splendid appearance and all in all the event was one 1 long to be remembered and one t deserving credit to those who work-1 ed it out. |
