It is expected that President Joseph F. Smith will be present. The new chapel which has just been completed during the present week will be dedicated during the conference. This chapel is one of the most beautiful little places of worship wor-ship erected in this part of the state. Many have been heard to say that it is the finest chapel they ever saw.. The seating capacity is about nine hundred. It is made after the man-ar man-ar of Greek architecture making it possible for every person .in the building to see the speaker. The seating of the choir is of the very latest design which enables the chorister chor-ister to command the attention cf every member with ease. In conection with the church a fine basement is arranged for the different differ-ent departments of the school. And in connection with the church a bab-tismal bab-tismal font is nicely inlaid in one of the rooms of the basement. The heating plant is modern in every respect. re-spect. The grounds surrounding the church is being parked apd beautifully beauti-fully arranged. There are three cement walks leading up to the chapel to as many enti ances to the building. A driveway is made around the portion por-tion which is planted to lawn and laid out for two beautiful spray fountains and one drinking fountain. There are four large cesspools ar-raneed ar-raneed to carry off all the drainage water from the building. The total cost of the new chapel is about $32,000 in round numbers. The lot upon which it stands was purchased in the year 1903 and the work was started in the year 1904. It was a big undrtaking and for a long time Bishop James C. Peterson thought it was more than the ward could manage, but the people urged him along until the building was completed. It stands as a monument to the memory of those who contributed contri-buted towards its erection. |
