Show TAXPAYERS, ATTENTION! Is the present a propitious time to vote County Court House Bonds? No. Why? Practically every city and town in the county has reached its debt limit, and is at present bearing ' a very heavy tax burden. Any additional ad-ditional levy will make the load almost al-most beyond endurance", and will have a tendency to prevent people and capital coming into our County and may drive away many good citizens citi-zens from the county who are unable un-able to meet the excessive exactions. Since every effort should be made to lessen the burden of the taxpayers taxpay-ers of the county, we think that before be-fore a bond should be voted Manti should pledge itself to pay 50 per cent of the cost of constructing a new Court House. Other cities would be glad to do more to obtain the County Seat. MANTI DOES NOT OFFER ANYTHING. In the last contest for the removal of the County Seat it was declared , by leading citizens of Manti in Mass Meetingsheld throughout the County ' that with a few improvements the present Court House would serve the County's need for twenty years to come. We understand the said improvements have been made. Now, therefore, let the old Court House serve for a few years longer until we can reduce the indebtedness of the cities and towns of the county and until some city will pledge itself to raise an acceptable amount toward to-ward the construction of a new Court House. This would save thousands and thousands of dollars to the general taxpayers, and the city which is so fortunate as to have the new Court House can well afford to pay this extra amount. Citizens and taxpayers: Do not fail to vote next Monday. It is up to you to determine whether or not your already heavy tax burden shall be increased. You may be sure that those favoring a new Court House at Manti now, will be out in full force, and unless a general interest is shown in the election and a representative repre-sentative vote is cast, the bond election elec-tion will carry and you will have to pa the bonds. Respectfully -Committee, , Selected-by Mt. Pleasant Commercial Commer-cial Club. |
